Radio Ikhlas: Celebrating 10 years of broadcast

Radio Ikhlas was set up back in 2001 as a local community Radio Station by the Ikhlas Foundation. It started by broadcasting only in the month of Ramadan. Since 2005 it has become a full time Radio Station broadcasting 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every month. Radio Ikhlas currently has over 190 volunteers, out of which 80 are active. The volunteers consist of Radio Presenters, Backup managers, team leaders and project workers.

Alhamdulilah we are now in the 10th year of broadcasting. Without your support we will not be here today. Radio Ikhlas would like to take this opportunity to thank your for you continious support.

The Radio Station was set up with 3 main objectives in mind:

  • To Inform
  • To Educate
  • To Provide a Halal form of Entertainment

Alhamdulilah, these objectives are being fulfilled with our children singing praises of the Prophet (SAW) instead of listen to or following pop and gangsta rap music. Our communty has begun to have a thirst for Islamic learning with many institues now being set up and offering Islamic courses. Many former non-Muslims have embraced Islam and use Radio Ikhlas as a learning tool. Our listeners are always informed about local community and international issues that are directly related to them. With many Internationally renowned scholars, politicians and journalists having shared their views with the listeners of Radio Ikhlas.

Out of many great benefits by your support some are listed below.

  • Do you know that we have had young brothers and sisters who have volunteered their time at Radio Ikhlas and now they are regularly reading their prayers 5 times a day, again all those who contributed to Radio Ikhlas will get a share of this reward.
  • Do you know that we have made various community announcements in terms of events happening in the community e.g. lectures and talks in the mosque and also Janaza (funeral) prayers of someone in the community. The people who have attended these events have got reward for this but again all those who have contributed towards the running of the radio station have also got a share of this reward (sawaab).
  • Radio Ikhlas reaches out to approx 200,000 homes in Derbyshire and the borders of Staffordshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire. Apart from this many people listen to Radio Ikhlas online, phones and while driving. Our estimated listenership is over 15,000 and through your support all these people listen to naats, nasheeds, Islamic lectures and Quran recitation and in return getting you unimaginable reward.
